Highways Agency Updates:
Highways Agency has issued updates this week for the new “Dartford Crossing Remote Payment Scheme”.
According to Highways Agency, so far drivers using this route have already been saving up to 9 minutes in travel time on average and this is set to increase upon completion.
New safety measures are currently being undertaken to ensure that all vehicles, carrying hazardous goods, wide loads and tall vehicles can be easily diverted off the main carriageway until they can be safely escorted through either of the tunnels going Northbound or alternatively turned around and sent on a different route.
Currently all works are on target to be complete by the end of April.
Since the new system came into effect over half a million Dart Charge accounts have now been set up. Payments can be made via an online account where you are able to set an auto top up feature so you will never have to worry about forgetting. Alternatively you are able to use your nearest payzone outlet and pay by cash or card.
We’ll try to keep you up to date as and when we have more information.
